The fourth edition of the Cambridge Legal Theory Symposium will be held on 14 August 2018 at the University of Cambridge. We welcome abstracts that address legal questions from philosophical and theoretical perspectives.
The keynote speaker is Professor Matthew Kramer, Professor of Legal and Political Philosophy, University of Cambridge. The tentative title of his lecture will be 'Power Conferring Laws and the Rule of Recognition in Legal Positivism'.
The Workshop is primarily for research students and those who have received their doctoral degree less than two years ago. There is no overarching theme. Any piece of jurisprudential work or philosophical analysis of an area of law is welcome. Consideration will generally be given to creating thematically-coherent panels when selecting abstracts for presentation.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer subsidies for the presenters' travel and accommodation costs.
Please send your abstract of less than 500 words and your CV to Michael Foran (mf629@cam.ac.uk) by 1 June 2018. The chosen presenters should submit their full papers by 1 August 2018 so that there is sufficient time to circulate the papers to the participants. The length of the paper should not exceed 8,000 words (including footnotes).
